You may not realise, but your wedding car is one of the most important items to ensure your wedding day runs smoothly. Your wedding day is all about running to schedule, if you are late to the church the ceremony will be late, the photographer will be rushed and the booking for the reception venue will run longer. We know that deciding on the right wedding car can be a difficult task, so we thought you should be aware of a few points for consideration, Therefore, there are a few things you need to remember when choosing your wedding car.
As with all transport arrangements, Get it in writing. Make sure what you want to get is specified in writing to avoid mix-ups on the day. Hudson Cars will always confirm your travel arrangements via email or in writing.
With other wedding companies you should also ask about the company's Terms & Conditions or rates. Pay attention to distance and or time constraints - if you plump for a limousine, journey times will be similar to those for a normal car, make sure you are allocated a the time you need, with the possibility that the car will be used for more than one wedding on the day you don't want to get caught out.
Tips for Vintage cars.
With a vintage cars you should remember that journey times can be much slower than a normal car. Also be careful to take into consideration the route the car will take. Are there any steep hills, tight bends, width restrictions, speed bumps or narrow lanes. Generally speaking most vintage cars can cope with all of the those, but it's better for the hire company if they are known about beforehand! Ask them to have a look at the route and confirm that the car will be able to negotiate any obstacles.
Tips for Open-top cars: If you're hiring an open-top vehicle you should ask what will happen in the event of bad weather. Are umbrellas provided by the company? Check before you go and buy your own. If there's any chance of the weather being cold on your big day, remember to ask if the vehicle you've chosen is heated. The majority of vintage vehicles are not, so find out if blankets will be provided if needed.
Will your driver be presentable? professional and experienced? You might want to check whether they have any relevant qualification such as Advanced Driving training, PCO licensed and you should definitely ask what they’ll be wearing on the day. We have seen drivers turn up in jumper and jeans at some weddings! Not so pretty in those lovely wedding photos you want.
Making sure you have the car you want. Make sure you start looking for the wedding car you want early, around 4-6 months before the event. When you find the car you want, put a deposit on it so that it's secure for the date or dates you want. Also don't forget the departure for the honeymoon and your arrival back to start your new life as a married couple.
Be Noticed
White may be the traditional colour for wedding cars, but it may not be such a good choice of colour when photographed. A bride with a white dress next to a white car is going to be lost in photos. Make sure you stand out, consider a darker car which compliments your colour scheme and doesn't diminish it.
